Supermarket Flowers

‘All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.’ — Michael John Bobak

#Poem

I don’t like supermarket flowers, and thankfully, today I didn’t receive one.

My old gardener finally understands this and has sent me a bouquet from a florist.

I am not sure what to do with it, but I know I don’t want to watch the petals wear a frown.

I have set it down on my dressing table, and I will do what the label said and feed it fresh water regularly.

I have taken the leap; I have planted new seeds and I meet my new gardener next week.

I will walk in with a smile borrowed from Serena’s blossoms and chuckle as I remember each sepal.

I will look my gardener in the eyes and say, ‘Water me, not like the one before you, but like you have to, so that we can both blossom.’

A bouquet of flowers called “Serena”.
